The library has always been one of my favorite places. As a young girl, I would spend countless hours lost in my latest book. When I became a mom, I passed my love of books on to my two children, Amy and Garrett. One of our favorite memories is of story time at the public library.
My daughter Amy is now twenty five years old and is a registered Dietitian. My son Garrett is nineteen years old and is studying to be an architect at Cal Poly, San Luis. As a family, we love to travel and have been to over forty states. We have a beautiful Golden Retriever dog named Sunny, and a cuddly cat named Sharie.
Sundale has been my "home-away-from-home" since my daughter started school here twenty years ago. I spent many hours here volunteering in the classrooms, serving on the PTA and School Site Council. Fourteen years ago I was hired to start the Special Friend program, and ten years ago, I moved to my home in the library. I feel that I am very blessed to be working at a job that I love with "family" all around me.

"An effort made for the happiness of others lifts us above ourselves".
Lydia M. Child
We are each born with gifts and talents to share with others. We learn to identify our unique gifts through life experiences. As we come to learn what satisfies our inner self we grow in character. As we grow in character we feel more confident in who we are. Many years ago I became aware of three gifts bestowed upon me. They are a deep compassion for children, the ability to be creative, and a strong desire to give of myself to help others. I cannot think of a better place to express myself through my gifts, than in the Sundale School Library. I have the best of two worlds. Being a librarian allows me the privilege of working with children, sharing good books, reading a great story, and creating "story stretchers" to enhance a story. It is my hope that my enthusiasm creates a positive environment for a child to continue this cycle by expressing their thoughts, using their imagination, and enhancing their creative talents. What a blessing for each of us!
