Welcome to 6th grade---- You are now a member of Middle School!!!!   There are different opportunities for your student which also comes with responsibilities.  Students have elective classes with other students and teachers. Progress reports will be sent home home every other week. 

 

       Progress Reports will be sent to the email address on file at school. Your Orientation packet had an explanation to help you better understand these reports.  We appreciate your support and participation in your student's academic achievement.

Weekly Assignments--- Due on Friday

Vocabulary Unit-- weekly activities, and test on Friday

Continent and Ocean Test every Friday until passing with 100%

Learning at Home

Study -- weekly vocabulary test; any other tests

Read -- Library book 30 min. every night

THERE IS NO HOMEWORK GIVEN TO STUDENTS---I will allow students to take an assignment home to complete if they let me know what it is so I can check-in with them the next morning.

We are always here to help your student learn to be responsible and organized. Our classroom and the daily routine is designed to support students attain these goals. It is their responsibility to come see us for gathering absent work.

 

         Electives-7th Period-- Sixth grade students are mixed throughout the 6th grade classrooms. They will rotate through each 6th grade teacher for classes focusing on the world around them and how to navigate real life.

          Electives-- 5th,6th Period---Students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of classes including PE, ceramics, computers, foreign languae and many more....which wil change each trimester.

Common Core State Standards

We use Common Core State Standards to plan our curriculum and implement our lesson plans. CCSS focuses on a well balanced approach to learning.  Students are expected to use different approaches to achieving academic goals.
