Interdistrict Transfers
Principal
Office Aide
The first step to requesting an interdistrict transfer to Sundale is to be added on to the waiting list. You can be added to our waiting list by completing the form HERE. Please note this form can only be completed once, if you need to make any changes or additons, please contact Stefani Scheler at the school office.
Once we have room in a particular grade level, we will refer to our waiting list (see more information below on how our waiting list works!) and contact those families by phone.
During the months of April-June we will schedule interviews with the parent(s)/guardian(s) and an administrator to discuss the requirements and expectations for interdistricts at Sundale for the available grade levels. The administrator will review attendance, academics, and behavior from report cards from the last two years (if applicable), as well as contacting the prior school. Concerns with any of these areas may result in non-approval of an interdistrict transfer.
A timeline may be established for any requested documentation. If the timeline is not met, it would be deemed an abandonment of the request.
If you feel that the requirements for an interdistrict transfer request have been met and your request was denied, you may request to meet with the Sundale School Board. Your request must be in writing, to administration, 1 week prior to the following school board meeting (the Board meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month). If you disagree with the Sundale School Boards decision, you may appeal to the County Board of Education. Your right to appeal to the County Board of Education must be made within 30 calendar days of the date of this letter.
If you live within the boundaries of Sundale, but wish to attend a different school district, stop by the school office during our regular hours to complete a request to be release from our school district. Once the request has been approved, it will be sent directly to the district that you have requested.
The waiting list has multiple levels of priority.
1. Staff/Board members children or grandchildren
2. Foundation & long standing committee members’ children or grandchildren
3. Siblings currently attending Sundale School* & student attending the Sundale Foundation Preschool**
4. Sibling currently attending Sundale School*
5. Students attending the Sundale Foundation Preschool**
6. All others in order of date and time of the interdistrict transfer request
*The student and his/her sibling must attend Sundale School at the same time for at least 1 year for this rule to apply
**The student must be continuously enrolled at the Sundale Foundation Preschool through the July prior to their start at Sundale School for this rule to apply
If your child(ren) is a current Sundale student on an interdistrict transfer, we require that all students neet the requirements outlined on the interdistrict contract. Each Spring, we will mail out a report to all interdistrict families regarding these requirements. We ask that all parents complete the bottom portion by the deadline explaining the parent involvement with Sundale.
It is crucial that you renew your interdistrict release with your district of residence annually. We ask that this be completed by May 15th for continuing students. If you live within Tulare City School District, their release can be completed online(click HERE). Otherwise, if you live within any other school district, you will need to go to their district office.
