Hello Firstie Parents,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as your child's first-grade teacher. My name is Mrs. Pelayo and I am excited to embark on this journey of learning and growth with your children.
About Me
This is my first year teaching first grade and I could'nt be more enthusiastic about it. However, I am not new to the Sundale community. I have been a proud Sundale parent since 2012, I absolutely cherish the close-knit, supportive environment that our school offers. I am married and have been for 23 years to my husband Poli. We have four children. Our eldest daughter is Jacquelyn. She is 20 years old, is currently a college student, and Sundale's colorguard/winterguard coach. Lauren is 18 years old, is currently a college student, and teaches dance and cheer through Sundale's foundation center, Giovanni is 15 years old, a high school student, and Max is 12 years old, currently a 7th grade student here at Sundale. Three of my children are Sundale alumni. When I am not teaching, I love running, reading books, and traveling.
My Background
My journey to becoming a teacher has been shaped by my experiences as a parent and active member of the Sundale community. I understand the unique needs and potentials of each student and aim to create a classroom atomosphere where every child feels valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe in a student-centered approach to learning, where curiosity is fostered, and each student's individual strengths are recognized and nurtured. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom where students feel confident to explore, ask questions, and make mistakes-all essential components of learning.
Communication
I value open and consistent communication with parents and guardians. I believe that by working together, we can provide the best support for your child's academic and personal growth. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or information that can help me better understand and support your child.
I look forward to a fantastic year filled with discovery, learning, and fun. Thank you for entrusting me with your child's education. Together, we can make this a memorable and successful school year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Pelayo
